Doug Friedman to speak at Cumberland School of Law

Doug Friedman will speak to law students at the Lunch with a Lawyer program sponsored by the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, to be held on January 21, 2010. Mr. Friedman will analyze the Social Security disability process, and offer insights to students who may be interested in a Social Security disability practice. He will based his presentation on his experience practicing law since 1975.

Doug Friedman to speak at 20th Annual Occupational Medicine Update

Douglas I. Friedman will speak at the 20th Annual Occupational Medicine Update in Sandestin, Florida, to be held on September 19th and 20th, 2008. Mr. Friedman’s session will address Social Security and the impact of the aging workforce. In addition, he will speak about disability before retirement. Mr. Friedman will reference current trends, explain legalese, and discuss information that is crucial to a worker during a difficult time.

Douglas I. Friedman will present to the Alabama Self Insured Association at its Winter Workshop, to be held January 24-25, 2008, at the Cahaba Grand Conference Center in Birmingham. Mr. Friedman’s presentation, entitled “Utilizing Government Benefits to Save Private Benefit Dollars,” will address ways in which the self insured can access federal benefits.

Douglas I. Friedman will speak at Protective Life’s Annual Compliance Seminar in Birmingham, Alabama on October 26, 2007. Mr. Friedman's session will address appropriate considerations for in-house counsel as insurers evaluate sales concepts for compliance purposes. Specifically, Mr. Friedman will discuss whether insurers should endorse concepts for their fields or simply offer their products. In addition, Mr. Friedman will speak about the ways in which differences in the sizes and approaches of insurers should affect their outcomes.

Doug Friedman to present to Alabama Power’s Disability Management Department

Douglas I. Friedman will make a presentation about Social Security benefits to the Alabama Power Company’s Disability Management Department in Birmingham, Alabama on October 25, 2007. The presentation will describe benefits, what they are, and how they work.

Doug Friedman to speak at 2007 IMSA Compliance Best Practices Workshop

Douglas I. Friedman, Friedman & Downey's founding partner, will present at the 2007 Insurance Marketplace Standards Association (IMSA) Compliance Best Practices Workshop, which will be held in Chicago on September 19 and 20. Now in its seventh year, the workshop will cover topics including suitability disclosure requirements, replacement monitoring, creating a culture of compliance, independent producer training and monitoring, and the implications of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

Doug Friedman, Friedman & Downey's founding partner, will present two sessions at Coss Development Corporation's annual conference taking place at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort from May 15-17, 2007. The COSSConference is a two-day seminar sponsored by Coss Development Corporation, a software development company serving the insurance and financial services industries.
